Villa Lo Scoiattolo

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Lo Scoiattolo. The villa was impeccable, with all the comforts of home. The grounds were so beautiful, and it was central to town. The owner arranged for a wonderful dinner in the wine cellar that was a highlight of our stay, and he was also available when needed for questions and assistance. My only two complaints are that the Villa is name something else on website and that caused confusion and the shower heads were pretty terrible. It is an easy fix that would make a huge difference in the comfort of the stay.

I would highly recommend staying at this property. The owner, Allessandro, was very kind and attentive to all our needs. I sent him a list of groceries and he had the groceries for us the first morning. There was an issue with the air conditioning in the bedroom and he was there in minutes to take care of it. He offers an authentic Tuscan meal prepared by his mother served in his wine cellar. It was the best meal we had that week. The property along with the pool is well maintained and the house is very clean. This was our second time to stay at this lovely Villa and would definitely stay again if we were to return to Tuscany.

Sehr schöne Villa wunderbar auf einem Hügel gelegen. Das Haus war ideal für unsere große Familie geeignet, um ein paar ruhige Tage am Pool, bei grillen und Ausflüge in die Umgebung zu unternehmen. Alles ist sehr sauber und entspricht den Bildern.

Super Woche

Trotz nicht optimalem Wetter, konnten wir die Woche sehr geniessen. Das Haus war bei der Ankunft sehr sauber und es wurde alles eingehalten, was im Angebot versprochen wurde. Besonders möchten wir den sehr freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Vermieter Alessandro erwähnen. Er war bei der Ankunft pünktlich vor Ort und auch bei der Abreise gab es keinerlei Probleme mit der Rückgabe der Kaution.
Einziger Wermutstropfen waren die vielen Ameisen in der Küche. Aber das haben wir auch schon bei anderen Häusern erlebt und ist wohl in der Toskana normal. Wir werden irgendwann sehr gerne wieder zurückkommen.

Beautiful house, lots of space for a big group. The garden and pool area are perfect. Inside the house is clean and kitchen is well equipped.

Beautiful old house with good room layout for many people, pool table and chess room complete the charm - minor renovations would make it perfect however the house and the adjacent vineyard did not look as well maintained as in the pictures.
Beds, pillows and bed linen basic but sufficient. Villa cleanliness perfect, owner very kind and helpful. Pool area perfect.
No air conditioning, which is not a problem, but at high temperatures at night where you have to leave the windows open, mosquito protection is essential, but unfortunately there is no such thing anywhere.
Subbiano is not a nice place, 20 minutes by car to get to Arezzo, you need definitely a car.

Villa Lo Scoiattolo exceeded all of our expectations.
It is simply stunning. A beautiful house set in carefully tended gardens. The layout is thoughtful and conducive to really enjoying the amazing outside space.
It was clear to us that Alessandro, the owner, was rightly proud of his family home.

He offered us a warm welcome, was there when we needed him, and otherwise left us to enjoy our holiday.

The house is so well equipped if you like to cook as we do.
Alessandro explained how to keep the house cool as there is no air conditioning and we felt that it worked really well.
Sometimes the old ways are the best!

We travelled there as a group of nine comprised of two families with a variation in ages. At no time did we feel that there was a lack of space.

We enjoyed both a wine tasting with Alessandro, and a delicious dinner with his own wine on one evening. The dinner, prepared by Alessandro’s Mother, was a definite highlight of our holiday.
He is a wonderful wine maker following in his family tradition, and also a master craftsman. He makes beautiful metal objects like wine stoppers, wine charms, bottle openers and knives.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Villa Lo Scoiattolo. It has given us a truly restful holiday and a host of happy memories.

Beautiful secluded property about 5km outside of Cortona. Fully renovated up to date bathrooms for each bedroom. Very accessible and large swimming pool with loungers and large awning. First rate. Large manicured walkable grounds with lovely olive grove.top. Otch wifi reception. Stayed there 10 days. Loved every minute of it

Fabulous stunning villa

The property was beautiful and very clean. We stayed at the villa for 6 days and were very pleased. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Alesandro and several occasions. Very nice and easy to work with. He makes his own wine at the villa but also is an artist making jewelry, wine pourers, napkins rings.... We also met his mother who is a pleasure. The villa is in a good location. Quiet but close enough to be able to get out and eat and see things without too much of a drive. I would highly recommend this villa.

Much of what this villa offered met expectations and it was very clean. The owner, Alessandro, is a charming host and was on hand to deal with any issues/queries.
However for the price we paid, I was somewhat disappointed with some of the kitchen equipment which was old, incomplete, missing and generally tired e.g. missing toaster, unsafe coffee pot, no grater, exhausted frying pans etc.
The bedrooms were all good but attention was needed in at least one shower where the shower head fixing was broken and therefore didn't function.
There was insufficient information for the guests regarding local facilities and no guestbook to let everyone share useful facts and info about the house and trips/restuarants etc. There is a walking distanced Michelin rated restaurant just down the road (1000 metres); excellent delivery pizza place that you should be aware provides "maxi" pizzas which are huge (feeds a family of 4).

The pool is excellent and overall we very much enjoyed the experience but......small things matter and are very frustrating!!

Deine Herzlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft hat gepasst zu diesem wunderschönen Fleckchen Erde. Das Haus ist schöner als auf den Bildern, super sauber, Hunde und Kinder sind herzlich willkommen und der Pool mit dem Sprungbrett hat nicht nur die Kinder erfreut. Ankommen und wohlfühlen ???? Wunderschön!!!

Wunderschöne Villa mit erfrischendem Pool in Alleinlage. Umgeben von Weinreben, Oliven- und Feigenbäumen konnten wir unseren Toskana Urlaub hier wunderbar genießen. Der Besitzer war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Villa war sehr sauber, der Außenbereich gepflegt und schön angelegt. Jedes Zimmer hatte sein eigenes Bad. Die Küche war super ausgestattet. Einen mit Holz befeuerbaren Steinofen benutzten wir mehrmals, ein normaler Grill ist aber auch vorhanden. Alles in allem ein Ort an den wir gerne nochmals zurück kehren würden!

What a fantastic house! Enough space in and around the property. Nice owner..great for visiting Arezzo, Cortona and Florence. Not too far from supermarket and village for coffee!

Overall very good. The communication with Posarellivillas was ok and we got pretty quick responses to our answers we had prior to booking. The villa Lo Scoiattolo was excellent and everything we dreamed of. Alessandro the owner was very helpful with all questions we had.

Fräscht och välstädat när vi kom. Lättillgängligt från flygplatsen i Florens med ca 1,5 timmes resa med bil. Bra bemötande. Möjlighet att röra sig i trädgården och också att ta promenader i omgivningen.

Lo Scoittolo (also known as La Vigna) was everything we hoped for. It is so beautiful. Alessandro is a wonderful host. We were four couples who had more space than we needed. The villa is ideally located for many great day trips. Absolutely clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and aesthetically pleasing.

We opted for Alessandro's mother to cook a dinner for us one night. It was held in the taverna in the basement of the villa, with a roaring fire. It was a little pricey at 50 euro per person, but that included unlimited wine and 3 courses. We thoroughly enjoyed it and discovered that Alessandro is not only a wine maker but a metal artisan.


Just a few things that potential renters might want to know: if you need heat, it will be 40 euro per day. Apparently, it's not possible to calculate the actual usage exactly, so this is what Alessandro charges. It can be a little unclear about what the charges might be. But we felt Alessandro was being fair and that given the very reasonable price of the villa in low season, it was okay.
The wifi was spotty. We had none the first two days, which we understood was a problem with the local network. But even when it was working it appeared that there was a limitation to the number of devices that could be on a once. (Some of us got connected and others could not)

Overall, this place was wonderful and I would rent it again.

Villa Lo Scoiattolo was perfect! The home and property was everything promised and accommodations were great for our family and friends. Alessandro (owner) was helpful and welcoming. He worked on property site daily and so he was always accessible to us. I would recommend this property for the quality of the home and location. It should be noted that Subbiano is not a tourist area and therefore most businesses do not speak English. However the people are very friendly and helpful. Great property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Perfect for our Yoga/Pilates retreat and day trips to Siena, Florence and Arezzo! Highly recommend, the owners have had this vineyard in their family for 4 generations and take great care and pride of their family estate. The perfect getaway I would go again! Thank you Rosie and Alessandro for taking care of our every need!

Très bon accueil par Alessandro. Aucune surprise quant à la location, conforme à ce que nous avions réservé. Et nous avons même goûter au vin de la propriété, offert par le propriétaire.

Ganz tolles Haus. Wir haben gegrillt und Pizza gemacht und eigentlich nur draussen gelebt. Wir kommen bestimmt mal im Winter um den Kamin zu erleben! Sehr gut war auch die Zugverbindung von Arezzo aus. So kann man ohne Parkprobleme nach Florenz und Siena fahren. Auch der Trasimeno See ist einen Ausflug wert, denn dort gibt es Wassersportmòglichleiten.

Davon haben wir geträumt: viel Platz in einem alten Landhaus mit grossen Räumen und hohen Decken und alten Kaminen und Weinkeller und einen Garten mit Schwimmbad mit Blick auf die Weinstöcke und einem Pizzaofen! Es war alles perfekt. Auf jeden Fall zum weiterempfehlen!

Luxus pur in schönster Umgebung. Wir haben uns in der grossen Villa sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Räume sind wahnsinnig schön und gut eingerichtet. Der Garten ist toll und alles war noch erstaunlich Grund! Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Urlaub! Vielen Dank Posarelli Villas.
